The aim of most social projects in nutrition, health, education and, in general, the fight against poverty, benefit more people in Peru, confirmed Deputy Mine, Fernando Gala.

“We are confident that this new stage in the next five years, progress in implementing social projects will be much faster because it already passed the stage of learning,” he told TV Peru.

The voluntary intake mine just this year was born in 2006 allowing implementation of more than 1,500 projects in remote towns with a total contribution estimated at more than 2.000 million new soles, he said.

“The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM) proposed to renew this commitment in order to continue doing social projects,” he said.

He said the National Mining, Petroleum and Energy (SNMPE) accepted this proposal as the next few days will meet to refine some terms and to renew for five more years of this contribution.

It should be noted that on the eve SNMPE reported that mining companies are willing to accept the initiative of MEM to extend for five years the voluntary contribution.

New projects to be implemented from 2012, also at the time contribute to this voluntary contribution, he said.

Mining’s contribution was initially estimated at 500 million soles a year 2009 was 400 million due to lower prices of minerals, but from 2011 or 2012 could be for an amount higher, he added.
